Tha Carter V is the last chapter of the historical series of albums by Lil Wayne. It started with the first Tha Carter in June 2004, and interrupted in August 2011 with Tha Carter IV. We had to wait years, but the album is finally out.

The album was delayed time and time again by Cash Money, whose label head, Birdman, allegedly blocked Wayne from releasing it, sparking a three-year legal battle between the longtime confidants. In the meantime, actual shots were fired at Wayne’s tour bus, Young Thug nearly appropriated the ‘Carter‘ name, and ‘The Carter V‘ also faced potential seizure by the U.S. government. All the while, Wayne has stayed busy with an absurd amount of mixtapes and guest appearances. Here’s the crazy path to an album Wayne once said would be his last.

Weezy’s long-awaited 13th studio album features XXXTentacion, Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj, his daughter Reginae Carter, Sampha, Snoop Dogg, Sosamann, Ashanti, Nivea, and Mack Maine. Talking about producers. the LP includes beats from Swizz Beatz, Metro Boomin, Mannie Fresh, Zaytoven, DJ Mustard, Dr. Dre and many others.

Was it worth the wait? Is it good? You can wait for our review or find out yourself by streaming it below.
