Young Thug’s new album So Much Fun has arrived. The new album features guest appearances from Future, Lil Uzi Vert, Gunna, 21 Savage, Juice WRLD, Quavo, NAV, Lil Keed, and more. His song with J. Cole and Travis Scott, “The London,” also appears on the album.
Though the ATL rapper has been teasing the release over the last several months, he has managed to keep the details to a minimum. He did, however, confirm that the project—originally called GØŁDMØÜFDÖG—would be full of bangers.
“All the songs are like turn up, club, radio, fucking parade music. This shit is all about fun. If you not having fun or in a fun mood, don’t even play this album.”
He said in an interview.
So Much Fun, out today, is the first Young Thug full-length not billed as a mixtape. It’s about time, given that most of his major releases since at least Barter 6 have been albums in all but name.
It’s been a long road for Young Thug since breaking into the hip-hop sphere as one of the culture’s most forward-thinking artists in the early 2010s. The psychedelic trap overlord first found mainstream recognition with mixtapes like 2013’s 1017 Thug 2014’s “Stoner” single, later going on to release a variety of projects including Slime Season 3, Super Slimey with Future, and more. Known for his unique vocal style and gender-fluid fashion taste, Thug has managed to scape out an entire subgenre of Atlanta trap, developing his own YSL collective that has developed the likes of Gunna, Lil Keed, Lil Duke, and more.
The project sees Thug doing what he does best, being himself. His beguiling, somewhat whiney flow is stronger than ever here, with articulated production helping to carry the refined project to the top of 2019’s hottest music releases.
