LA-based artist Doja Cat has returned with her sophomore album, Hot Pink. It follows her 2018 debut album Amala.
The newly released project sees the 24-year-old continuing to get inspired by heavy old school R&B and by her vision of hip-hop. The result? A collection of tracks that arouse with versatility. This might be indebted to the fact that the viral artist took a more clear-headed approach. She in fact recently admitted that she stopped smoking weed to make this album.
“My last album was me super high all the time. When I stopped and did this album, I’ve never been more concise and clear and levelheaded. People will love me and hate me for it. I used to write stuff where it didn’t matter. Now there are things I believe in, that get me excited and piss me off. I’m actually reflecting on who I am as a person.”
She said to the Los Angeles Times.
But make no mistake, Hot Pink still delivers everything fans love about Doja Cat: catchy beats, sex-positive messages, and a hefty dose of humor. The project contains 12 tracks and features guest appearances from Gucci Mane, Smino, and Tyga.
